My "secret" to increasing Instagram engagement is to reach the ideal audience on your profile first! Most people employ follow/unfollow techniques, which can increase your follower count but not your engagement. So how do you get the ideal audience who will like and comment on your page and increase overall engagement?
Make a list of competing Instagram accounts with profiles very similar to the type of account you are trying to add.
Every day click into one of the competitors on the list, then click on the latest post (which should be relevant to the type of post you make). Go to the comments section of that post and start following people who commented on it. After doing this, start following people who also liked the post. (Avoid focusing only on its followers, but only on engaged audiences)
Be careful not to follow thousands per day as Instagram does have a limit (usually 20-30 per hour) and don't unfollow these accounts right away. (wait a few days)
